New Songs for January 2017

19 Jan

We have been working on two great songs so far this term… one is brand new to Otley A Cappella; our version of Joe Cocker’s version of The Beatles ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’! I love how powerful and heavy it is – and there are some lovely harmonies from the many singers on the stage.

Hear his version from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen 1970 tour, which features songwriter and musician Leon Russell who sadly died in 2016.

Here’s our version

For the separate parts please see the HAVE A LISTEN page. The sheet music can be found on the SONGS WE DO page.

We have also re-introduced our arrangement of Elbow’s ‘One Day Like This’- which has been a favourite since we did it all those years ago!

New singers are always welcome! We will continue to meet weekly (with a break for the school holidays in February and April) so we hope to see you very soon. πŸ™‚

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2 Jan

I hope you have all had a lovely festive season – we will be back singing together from 7:30pm on THURSDAY 12th JANUARY at The Woolpack Studios…

Expect new songs and good times!

Until then – here we are at The Christmas Tree Festival December 2016… we had a lovely time at this festive event and enjoyed singing the songs we’ve practised since September. Well done everyone!

A Fantastic Evening

16 Jul

We had such a great night at Otley Parish Church, thank you to everyone who came to sing and to those who supported the event. There’ll be a fundraising for Joanna Project update soon!

We thoroughly enjoyed Good In Parts, Sally’s Army and Ilkley Moornotes performances. It was a joy to sing a song altogether at the end!

The team at the church really looked after us – and it was a night to remember!

Here’s to the next performance – but in the meantime – here’s a video of us performing Tender by Blur πŸ™‚
