About Otley A Cappella

Otley A Cappella is a 3 to 5 part harmony choir for anyone who loves good music and a good sing. We sing arrangements of songs we love in harmony – creating interesting and soulful versions of popular songs. Don’t be put off if you can’t read music or don’t know your bass clef from you treble, your soprano from your tenor! Otley A Cappella welcomes everyone!

In a typical session we will

1 – warm up our voices
2 – practise a song we have all ready learned
3 – learn a new arrangement

Most of the session is accompanied by piano – once we’re confident with the arrangement we will practise singing a cappella, working on dynamics as we go.

We perform at open mics, residential homes for the elderly, charity events and gigs we organise ourselves or in conjunction with other bands such as The Fortnights and Otley Ukulele Orchestra.

We are informal and welcome people to try different parts to see what suits them the best. We meet every Thursday at the Woolpack Studios, Bondgate, Otley LS21 3AB from 7:30pm-9pm and it costs £6 per session.

      Hello Kate

      Thank you for your message!

You would be more than welcome to come along to choir this evening (or any Thursday!!) at 7:30pm.

I do hand out written music but many people in the choir cannot read music confidently so use it more as a guide.

We are preparing for our carol concerts coming up so we are looking at more traditional songs.

It’s a really friendly group and you’d be most welcome. We often go for a drink after too.

If you have any other queries then please do get in touch

      Kind regards

      Jen

    Hi Jen,
I have an appt tomorrow which I have to attend. Not sure if I’ll be able to make the rehearsal but will try. I may be late though. Really enjoying listening to ‘Caramel’ which is new to me – haven’t been able to get it out of my head!
    Best Simone.
