13th February 2014 – You’re All I Need To Get By

14 Feb

Since i last posted on the blog we have been really concentrating on two songs…

It’s Too Late

and

Everything I Own

Learning songs in 3 or 4 part harmony can take time in a group setting, but the singers who come on a Thursday put in a lot of energy and enthusiasm into making the songs work. These songs are beginning to sound fantastic!

So last night we started to look at a Motown classic – You’re All I Need To Get By. This arrangement draws inspiration both from the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell version as well as the Aretha Franklin one. You just cannot argue with these singers – just pure soul.

I hope you like our version… here is the demo

Aretha doesn’t only inspire us musically… she had pretty awesome taste in clothes too. So who’s up for an Otley A Cappella gown?!
